STUDIO EDITION

The Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre, 1967

Completed in 1967 as part of the Southbank Centre, the Queen Elizabeth Hall is a defining work of British Brutalism. Designed in exposed concrete with an uncompromising presence, the building challenged conventional ideas of what a concert hall should look like.

Initially controversial and famously criticised by the public, it has since been reappraised as a deliberate and radical expression of post-war cultural ambition.
