An elevation drawing of the fictional diner from Nighthawks by Edward Hopper, a painting so deeply etched into our collective memory that it has been quoted, parodied, re-lit, re-cast and re-imagined countless times.

But instead of repainting the mood, I wanted to flatten the drama. Strip it of perspective, and turn atmosphere into façade. What happens when you treat Hopper’s cinematic corner as architecture rather than narrative?

Maybe it loses some mystery. Or maybe it gains a different kind.
