Completed on the western edge of Belgrade, the Western City Gate is one of Serbia’s most iconic examples of late-modernist and Brutalist architecture. Conceived as both an urban marker and a mixed-use megastructure, the complex consists of two asymmetrical concrete towers connected by a dramatic skybridge.

Mitrović approached the building as an architectural landmark rather than a neutral high-rise. Through its monumental scale, exposed concrete, and emphatic structural expression, the Genex Tower asserts a powerful presence in the cityscape and remains a defining symbol of Belgrade’s post-war architectural ambition.
