STUDIO EDITION

John Hejduk, Wall House 2, 1976-2001

Wall House 2 by John Hejduk began as a theoretical project in the early 70's, originally designed for landscape architect A.E. Bye in Connecticut. Organized around a single massive wall, the house explored ideas of time, sequence and movement rather than conventional domestic planning. The project remained unbuilt for decades before finally being realized in Groningen in 2001, shortly after Hejduk’s death. Built largely faithful to the original drawings, it remains one of the rare cases where a long-unrealized conceptual project from that period was eventually translated almost directly into architecture.
