    About the artwork

Greta Magnusson Grossman, a Swedish-American architect, made significant contributions to mid-century modern design. Her notable work includes the Grossman House, built in 1956-1957. The house showcased Grossman's distinctive style with a stilted design that appeared to float above canyons. It represents the mid-century modern movement, emphasizing clean lines, open floor plans, practicality, and integration with nature. The Grossman House highlights her innovative approach and role as a pioneering female architect.

Unfortunately, many of the homes that she designed have been demolished, and there are only a few remaining, like the Hurley House, the Frances Nelson houses, and the Jim Backus House.
