The Kocher Canvas Weekend House, completed in 1932 and designed by Swiss-American architect Albert Frey, stands as a noteworthy example of early modernist architecture. Embodying the principles of the International Style, this influential movement emphasized the use of industrial materials. Frey's design for the house beautifully exemplifies his dedication to minimalist aesthetics and the seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces. It showcases his innovative approach, embracing novel construction techniques to create a lightweight and adaptable structure. The house reflects the growing trend of weekend retreats and a desire for a closer connection with nature during the early 20th century.

Unfortunately, the house stood until the 1950s when it was demolished to give way for a housing project.
